Emma Coles, Head of Sustainable Retailing at Albert Heijn, will be our special guest for Thursday evening, together with Hille Meetsma, founder of VitalinQ.

Next to Philips, TNO, Google Food, FrieslandCampina and ICT companies, retailer Albert Heijn and eHealth provider VitalinQ participate in the international Personalized Nutrition & Health consortium. The consortium supports consumer health goals in every stage of their daily lifes. And explores how to connect relevant data to everyday technology. What are the ideal ways to prepare meals? What are healthy ideas for eating & drinking? How to monitor food intake and health most effectively?

Albert Heijn explores new ways and technologies to meet the ever changing needs of the consumer. Not only today, but even more tomorrow. Food and health are closely linked to one and other and Albert Heijn tries to define which needs on a personal level can be matched with a generic or specific assortment of – healthy – foods.

VitalinQ is a unique Personal Health Assistant that supports users towards a healthy lifestyle. Through their own personal profile and social environment, they can formulate individual goals and needs. Users will develop a clear roadmap to a healthy lifestyle. How can we use this roadmap to develop and produce personalized food?

Target Group

Innovation/R&D managers, market intelligence and marketing managers, business development and consumer insight managers, product development specialists, process and application technologists and colleagues from the food ingredients industry who are interested in innovative methods to develop and produce personalized food.

Hille Meetsma Hille Meetsma, CEO/founder of VitalinQ
is known for his expertise in Business-to-Business marketing and Business Strategy and has been invited to share his expertise and experience on the topic ‘Red Ocean Strategies’. Is it a matter of simply differentiating or striving for low costs? Are there other ways of requiring the optimum value/cost trade-off? Creating more value at a higher cost or reasonable value at a lower cost? How to exploit existing demand and improve the execution of marketing and the cost base? Within the privacy of the IFFI network strategic insights of (non)food industries as well as business opportunities and threads can be shared.

Before Emma Coles joined Ahold she was director of a Dutch Health Insurance Fund. Her background in health insurarance and her interest in personal health have motivated Emma towards her next career step: a professional focus is on food & health from a retailing point of view, combining lifestyle and food elements to improve and hopefully prolong the health of Albert Heijn’s consumers. Now and in the future.

Company visit

DVnutrition DVNutrition V.O.F. is a joint venture between DOC Kaas and Volac. DVN is a whey processing facility that has produced whey proteins and lactose based ingredients since 2004. Both DOC and DVN are located at the Agribusiness area, “Het Zuivelpark” in Hoogeveen. Both sites are positioned close to each other and use the same site and facility equipment. By using a modern energy center total energy control is almost achieved. DOC has built one of the biggest stand-alone Gouda cheese production plants in Europe. DVN processes the DOC whey directly into speciality whey products. Volac does the sales and marketing of all by DVN produced powders.

The IFFI dinner meeting programme includes dinner and drinks and excludes eventual accommodation costs. Participation costs for non-members are € 150,– excluding VAT. Participation costs for IFFI colleagues are covered by the membership fee. However, for cancellation of participation after 31 March we will charge you € 150,–. IFFI can arrange a hotel room for you in Hotel ………………….,  (room including breakfast will cost around € xx,–).
